Infant Storytime ~ Mother Goose on the Loose (no sign-up) - Ages 0 - 2 and up: Mondays & Thursdays at 10:30

Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled 45 minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and caregivers (older siblings also welcome). Ask to be put on the email list for last minute schedule changes.

Art & Stories for 4's & 5's (6 week session begins 11/5 ~ pre-registration required) - Ages 4 & 5+: Tuesdays at 2:00

This 30 to 45 minute program, appropriate for children ages 4 to 7, begins with a few longer picturebook stories, then ends with a process art project that encourages preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner. Register now for the next 6 week session; that 6 week session begins on 11/5 and runs through 12/17. Pre-registration required: Limit of 12 children.

Saturday Storytimes (no sign-up required) - Ages 3 to 7: Saturdays, November 9 & 16 at 10:30

Teen volunteers lead these fun drop-in, themed half-hour Saturday Storytimes for children ages 3 to 7 and their caregivers.


November's themes are Farms and Friends.

Saturday Art & Stories for 4's & 5's (pre-registration required) - Ages 4 & 5 and up: Saturday, November 23 at 10:30

Join in the once-monthly Saturday version of Art & Stories! This 30 to 45 minute program is appropriate for children ages 4 to 7. Pre-registration required: Limit of 12 children.

Children's Programs

Superheroes Unite - Ages 4 and up: Wednesday, November 13 from 3:30 to 4:15 PM

Teen volunteers run this superhero program which includes face painting and offers the chance for children to be creative and explore art. The program is based on a theme of superheroes and will include mask making for each child. Children may come to the program in a superhero costume if they wish. Please pre-register - limited to 12.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover - All Ages: Friday, November 15 (see below for drop off and pick up times)

Would your stuffed animal like to have an adventure at the library with stuffed animals that belong to other Harvard kids? Choose one of your stuffed animals (preferably one you can spare for a night or two!) to drop off at the library, and once the library is closed on Friday the 15th, the stuffed animals will get to party together and explore the library. Photos of the stuffed animals having fun at the library will be posted on the Children's Room Facebook and Google+ pages on Saturday the 16th!

Drop off your stuffed animals starting on Thursday, November 14; pick up your stuffed friends on Saturday, November 16. Please pre-register so that we can keep track of everyone's cuddly friends!

Toe Jam Puppet Band - All Ages: Tuesday, November 19 at 10:30 AM

Popular local favorite Toe Jam Puppet Band is coming to Harvard! Toe Jam offers children's entertainment that families can enjoy together. The unique musical performances are very interactive and theatrical. Audience members of all ages are encouraged to sing and dance along with Toe Jam as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs and interactive storytelling. Get ready for a Car Wash, watch out for the Flying Laundry and be prepared to laugh with glee, Toe Jam style! This show promises to provide quality time laughing together with your little ones! Please pre-register.

Mike the Bubble Man - All Ages: Wednesday, November 20 at 1:30 PM

Mike the Bubble Man brings magic and science to the stage with this interactive 45-minute indoor show about BUBBLES! Through music, choreography, and comedy, bubbles - in all different shapes and sizes - come alive, sparking imagination and wonder. Exploring science through bubbles creates an entertaining learning environment that introduces shapes, color, and chemistry.  A love for bubbles is never outgrown - especially when there's a chance to see the world from inside of one! Seating is limited - please pre-register.

Lego Club - Ages 5 & up: Saturday, November 23 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM

Come have fun building Lego creations with other Harvard Lego fans! Parents are encouraged to join in the fun & assist with supervision. Please see the Children's Librarian for more information and to pre-register.

Family Movie Night! Movie is Rated PG - All Ages: Friday, December 6 at 6:30 PM

We can't tell you the title of the movie here, but here is a clue about this recent animated film: a family of cave people goes on a spectacular journey. Popcorn and water will be served. Please pre-register, so we know how much popcorn to buy!

Game Hour & Chess Club - Grades 3 to 6: Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00

This drop-in, after school program for children in grades 3 to 6 is facilitated by teen volunteers. Play an assortment of great games, including Set, Scrabble, Mille Bornes, Apples to Apples, Slamwich, Quiddler, Hoopla, and, of course, Chess!
